   • 8 mm – standard upper ear

   • 10 mm – thicker cartilage or chain barbells

2. Thickness

   • 1.2 mm (16 G) = standard for helix

3. Ring diameter

   • 6–8 mm for a tight fit, 8–10 mm for a slightly looser fit
